Galois P4 Capture Functions Overview

1. Image Quality Settings

In spatial capture, there is typically a trade-off between capture speed and image fidelity:

Prioritizing speed may result in a slight reduction in image detail.

Prioritizing quality will lead to a longer capture duration per scan.

To accommodate various environments, the P4 offers two distinct image quality modes:

  • Standard Mode
    • Best For: Well-lit environments with high illuminance (e.g., construction sites, showrooms, offices).

    • Performance: Under conditions >30 lux, the images remain clean with minimal noise.

    • Efficiency: High-speed capture at approximately 16 seconds per point. This is the ideal choice for users prioritizing project turnover and field efficiency.

  • High Mode
    • Best For: Low-light environments or professional scenarios requiring high-fidelity visuals.

    • Performance: Delivers sharper images and richer details in low-illuminance conditions with significantly suppressed noise.

    • Trade-off: Slower capture speed, typically exceeding 30 seconds per point. Note that file sizes per point will also be larger.

  • Configuration Steps
    • Navigation: Capture Page – Settings Button(bottom-left) – Image Quality Settings

    • Once a mode is selected, the device will apply these specific parameters to all subsequent scans.

2. Capture Mode

The device(Galois P4) currently supports two workflows: App-Connected Capture and Standalone (Independent) Capture.

2.1 App-Connected Capture Method

Use this method when you want to monitor progress and see the floor plan generated in real-time.
  • Power & Connection: Power on the device and connect it to the App following standard procedures.
  • Trigger Capture: On the App's capture page, long-press the device’s built-in screen. A 5-second countdown will begin on the device screen.
  • Scanning: After the countdown, the device will automatically rotate to capture. The App will display the progress in sync.
  • Instant Sync: Once the scan is complete, the data point is automatically generated on the App’s capture page. No manual transfer is required.

2.2  App-Free Capture Method

To accommodate environments without network access or situations where using a smartphone/App is inconvenient, Realsee has introduced the Galois P4 App-Free(Standalone) Capture Mode. This allows users to perform spatial captures directly using the Galois P4's built-in small screen.

Prerequisites

To use the hardware capture features, please ensure you have:
  • Hardware: Galois P4 Device
  • Software: Realsee App (Version 3.62 or higher)

How to start:

  • Power On: Follow standard procedures to power on the device.
  • Trigger Capture: Long-press the device’s built-in screen to start the 5-second countdown.
  • Scanning: The device rotates and captures automatically.
  • Storage: Once the scan is finished, the point data is stored locally on the device. You will need to transfer this data to the App later.

2.3 Data Transfer Method (Importing Offline Data)

Follow these steps to move scans from the device to your project:
  • Connect: Connect the App to the device and enter the capture page (the canvas will initially appear empty).
  • Access Tools: Tap the Toolbox button in the bottom-right corner.
  • Import: Select Import Device Data.
  • Selection: Choose the specific data points you wish to bring into the project and tap Import.
  • Confirm: Tap Import Now in the pop-up. The points will be imported sequentially into the current floor's capture page.

Troubleshooting Imports: During the import process, you may see "Stitching Failed" or "Import Failed" alerts.
  • Stitching Failed: You can choose to Rescan the area or use Manual Alignment to align the points.

Pre-deployment Testing: While the Standalone Capture Mode offers high flexibility, we strongly recommend conducting a thorough field test before using it for formal or high-stakes projects. Please ensure you are fully proficient with the hardware operation and data transfer workflow.
