Dear Users,
We have recently received reports that certain users encountered errors or import failures when importing Galois P4 E57 point cloud files into third-party software such as Autodesk ReCap Pro.
1. Root Cause
The Galois P4 delivers ultra-high-resolution panoramic imaging at 24000*12000. Our exported E57 files embed these full-resolution panorama images directly. Our technical investigation confirmed that the issue is caused by image decoding and memory limits within certain third-party software when loading such large embedded images. The underlying geometric 3D coordinate data, density, and intensity measurements are completely intact and unaffected.
2. Next Steps & Current Workarounds
-
System Optimization in Progress: Our engineering team is currently working on an optimized E57 export pipeline to ensure broad compatibility across mainstream third-party platforms. We will share an official update as soon as the release is live.
-
Immediate Manual Support: If you currently have P4 E57 files that fail to import into your workflow, please reach out directly to Lutina (Product Operations Manager). We will manually assist you in stripping the high-resolution panorama images from the E57 file, providing clean geometric point cloud data so your project can proceed without delay.
-
Recommended Alternative (Verified): We have verified that CloudCompare handles large image data smoothly. P4 E57 files with full 24000*12000 panorama images can be opened and processed in CloudCompare without issues, serving as a reliable alternative tool during this interim period.
Thank you for your patience and ongoing support!
