During on-site spatial scanning (especially in older or multi-room layouts), doors may accidentally remain closed or half-open. When this happens, adjacent rooms become disconnected in the 3D point cloud mesh, blocking visitors from walking through doorways in the virtual tour.
Previously, fixing blocked doorways required manually locating each door, drawing a Clip Box from scratch, and adjusting 3D bounding parameters—taking 3–5 minutes per door.
With AI Dynamic Door Detection, our algorithm automatically locates closed/dynamic doors across the model and pre-calculates the exact Trim Boxes. You only need to review, make minor tweaks, and apply—cutting the process down to 10–20 seconds per door.
🚀 Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Access Model Fixup
-
Log in to the Realsee Console and open your project in My Spaces.
-
Click
Editto open the 3D Editor. -
In the left navigation toolbar, select
Model Fixup(orModel Trim).
Step 2: One-Click AI Detection & Load
-
Once inside Model Trim mode, the system automatically runs the detection algorithm.
-
A blue notification banner will appear on the right side:
“X closed doors detected. Load to quickly crop and connect adjacent rooms.”
-
Click the
Loadbutton. -
The AI will instantly generate pre-fitted Trim Boxes for all detected doors and add them directly to your Model Fixup List (e.g., Door 1, Door 2, Door 3).
Step 3: Review & Fine-Tune Trim Boxes
-
In the Model Fixup List, click on any detected door to focus the camera directly on the doorway.
-
Click the Edit (pen icon) next to the door item to open the Adjust Trimming Area window:
-
Multi-Angle Views: Switch between Top View, Side View, and 3D View at the top.
-
Dimensional Controls:
-
Regional Location: Adjust
X,Y, andZcoordinates. -
Area Size: Adjust Length (
L), Width (W), and Height (H) to ensure the box covers the door leaf completely without cutting into adjacent door frames or structural walls. -
Angle Adjustment: Fine-tune rotation (
H,F,B) to align with the wall angle.
-
-
-
Click
Saveonce the bounding box matches the doorway contour.
Step 4: Apply Changes
-
After reviewing the detected doors, click the
Applybutton at the bottom of the list. -
Wait a few seconds for the mesh trimming to process.
-
Once applied, test your 3D tour: you can now walk through the opened doorway smoothly without barriers!
💡 Best Practices & Pro Tips
-
Check the Frame Clearance: Ensure the Trim Box is wide enough to clear the dynamic door leaf, but does not overlap load-bearing walls or adjacent furniture.
-
Partial Openings: If a door was half-open during capture, the algorithm will detect the dynamic door blade. Make sure the trim box covers the swing area of the door blade.
-
Manual Redraw: If a door shape is complex or irregularly angled, you can click
Redrawinside the edit panel to reset and draw a new box manually.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What should I do if a closed door is not detected by the AI?
A: While the AI algorithm detects the vast majority of standard doors, you can always click the manual
+button in the Model Fixup list to draw a custom trim Box for any undetected areas.
Q2: Does trimming the door remove the 2D floor plan wall outlines?
A: No. Model Trim only clips the 3D walkthrough mesh/point cloud collision at the doorway. Your structural 2D floor plans and layout dimensions remain intact.
Q3: Can I undo or delete a trimmed door later?
A: Yes. Simply return to
Model Fixup>Model Trim, find the corresponding door in the list, click the Delete (trash bin icon), and hitApplyto restore the original mesh.
Q4: Will the AI-generated Clip Box always fit the door frame perfectly?
A: As this is an AI-powered detection feature, accuracy can vary depending on door types, opening angles, and complex spatial conditions, meaning the initial box may not always fit the door frame seamlessly. We recommend taking 10–20 seconds per door to do a quick visual check (using the Top and Side views) and fine-tuning the dimensions or rotation before clicking Apply.
Q5: Which capture devices are compatible with AI Dynamic Door Detection?
A: Currently, this AI-powered detection feature is supported exclusively on projects captured using Galois series devices, as it relies on high-density point cloud and spatial depth data. For projects scanned with panoramic cameras, mobile devices, or other hardware, you can still trim doors manually in Model Fixup.
