Realsee Technical Security, Compliance, and Disaster Recovery Statement

At Realsee, ensuring the security, privacy, and availability of our customers’ spatial data is our top priority. As we support enterprises and healthcare clients globally, we design our platform with rigorous technical controls and redundant infrastructure to safeguard sensitive information.

Below is an overview of our technical security standards, data backup practices, and disaster recovery levels.

1. Data Privacy and GDPR Compliance

We host our international services on Amazon Web Services (AWS), utilizing its Tokyo (Japan) region to deliver optimal performance and localized data residency.

  • Shared Responsibility & Infrastructure Compliance: While we manage application-level security, our physical servers, networks, and data centers are built on AWS. AWS’s global infrastructure is fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and holds industry-leading certifications, including ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 Type II.

  • Enterprise-Grade Encryption: To protect your intellectual property, all captured data and uploaded files are encrypted both in transit and at rest using the AES-256 encryption standard.

2. Data Backup and High Availability (HA)

Our platform is engineered for maximum resilience, preventing data loss and ensuring continuous access to your spatial assets.

  • Multi-Availability Zone (Multi-AZ) Deployment: All core services are distributed across multiple physically isolated AWS Availability Zones (AZs) within the Tokyo region. If a single data center encounters an outage, traffic is automatically rerouted, ensuring zero service disruption for our clients.

  • Resilient Object Storage (AWS S3): All captured spatial data and project files are stored in AWS S3 buckets. AWS S3 is built to provide 99.999999999% (11 nines) of data durability by automatically creating and storing copies of all uploads across multiple distinct systems.

  • Version Control and Tamper Prevention: To protect your business from human error, accidental deletion, or ransomware, our storage buckets have Version Control enabled. This allows us to preserve, retrieve, and restore every version of every file ever stored on our platform.

3. Disaster Recovery (DR) Service Levels

We maintain a strict Disaster Recovery plan to guarantee business continuity, measured by two industry-standard metrics: RPO (Recovery Point Objective - maximum acceptable data loss) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective - maximum acceptable downtime).

Scenario A: Single Availability Zone (AZ) Outage

In the event of a localized physical disruption (e.g., a localized power outage or network failure at a single data center):

  • RPO (Recovery Point Objective) = 0 (No data is lost).

  • RTO (Recovery Time Objective) ≤ 1 minute (Services automatically failover and recover in under 60 seconds).

Scenario B: Region-Wide Extreme Physical Disaster

In the highly unlikely event of a catastrophic regional disaster affecting the entire Tokyo metropolitan area:

  • Data Integrity Guarantee: All of your historical 3D models and raw capture data remain 100% secure and intact, protected by AWS S3's multi-AZ durability and versioning.

  • Service Recovery: System restoration times under this extreme scenario will align with AWS’s regional recovery capabilities and service-level agreements (SLA).

4. Secure Data Transmission

  • Transport Layer Security: All data communicated between Realsee capture devices, client applications, and our cloud servers is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS (TLS) channels.

  • Global Compatibility: To ensure seamless accessibility for enterprise clients operating on legacy browser environments or strict hospital intranet systems, our servers maintain broad compatibility with mainstream TLS protocol versions (including TLS 1.2), backed by end-to-end payload encryption.
