The Retouch tool is specifically designed to address common visual issues in VR content delivery. By utilizing efficient cloud-based parameter adjustments, it replaces most post-processing workflows that previously required third-party software, creating a seamless digital loop from capturing to final delivery.
Video Tutorial: Mastering the Retouch Workflow
To help you quickly get up to speed with Retouch, we’ve prepared a comprehensive video guide. It covers the entire process—from entering the editor to final submission and processing.
Quick Start: Interface Layout
The Retouch interface is divided into three core areas:
-
Left Navigation Bar: Preview all points in the current project.
-
Central Canvas: Switch between Panorama (equirectangular view) and Image (flat view).
-
Pro Tip: Switch to the Image view for more precise local brush strokes and painting.
-
-
Right Parameter Panel: Houses two independent toolsets: Global Adjust and Local Adjust (Masks).
Core Functionality
1. Global Adjust — Fixing Overall Defects
Use this when the entire scene is over/underexposed or the white balance is off.
-
Lighting Control: Use Highlights to recover overexposed details (like windows) and Shadows to rescue textures in dark indoor corners.
-
Color Correction: Precisely adjust Temperature and Tint. For scenes requiring specific aesthetics, use Saturation to enhance visual impact.
-
Batch Sync: Click the Copy/Import icon next to a point's name to sync your current parameters to other points in the project instantly.

2. Local Adjust — Fixing Stubborn Flaws
Use the Brush Mask tool for local artifacts, flickering, or area-specific enhancements.
-
Brush Configuration:
-
Size: Adjust the brush diameter using the slider.
-
Hardness (Feather): High values are recommended to ensure a natural blend between the retouched area and the original image.
-
Flow: Controls the intensity of the adjustment per stroke.
-
-
Mask Management: Supports up to 5 independent masks per point. You can hide masks to compare "Before" and "After" effects.
-
Visual Guides: Check Show Mask Area to see your brush strokes in real-time. Supports 6 toggleable colors (Red, Blue, Green, etc.) to ensure visibility against different background colors.
Submission & Processing Workflow
-
Save: Records your current parameter settings.
-
Apply: Triggers the backend operators to re-render the image.
-
Note: Retouch and Filter operators are mutually exclusive. If a "Task in progress" prompt appears, please wait before clicking.
-
-
Status: After submission, the preview will show "Processing." Once finished, it will automatically update to the high-definition Cube map.
Recommended Solutions for Common Scenarios
-
Scenario A:
-
Indoor Blue or Yellow Color CastSolution: Use the Temperature slider in Global Adjust to compensate and restore the natural white balance.
-
-
Scenario B:
-
Blown-out Windows (Loss of Detail)Solution: Add a Local Mask over the window area; drastically decrease Highlights and slightly increase Contrast to recover exterior details.
-
-
Scenario C:
-
Dark Spots in Complex LightingSolution: Use a High-Feather brush to paint over dark areas, then increase Shadows and Brightness. Keep the Flow at a moderate level to prevent excessive noise.
