Download Point Cloud from Add-ons

What is Point Cloud?

A Point Cloud is a digital representation used to represent objects or scenes in three-dimensional space. It is composed of a vast number of points, each containing precise 3D spatial coordinates (X, Y, Z) and color/intensity data.

Download Formats: E57 vs. PLY

Choose the format that best fits your post-processing workflow:

  • E57: Ideal for as-built BIM modeling, CAD drafting, and surveying workflows. It retains complete scan poses, metadata, and optional embedded imagery (Panorama/Cubemap).
  • PLY: Ideal for point cloud editing, 3D mesh reconstruction, or geometric comparison in tools like CloudCompare. It exports colored points and normals without embedded images.

Downloading Point Cloud from Add-ons

Follow these steps to customize and download point cloud data for your project:

  1. Navigate to your space in Realsee Console and click on the project to enter the project preview interface.
  2. Select the Add-ons tab from the top navigation bar.
  3. Locate and click Point Cloud File to open the export configuration drawer.

Select Point Cloud in Add-ons

  1. Configure Export Settings:
    • File Format: Choose between E57 or PLY.
    • Embedded Images (E57 only): Select No images, Panorama, or Cubemap. (Note: Choose Panorama for Autodesk ReCap RealView or Cyclone 3DR spherical image workflows; choose "No images" for pure geometric data and faster processing.)
    • Panorama Resolution (E57 only): Select 8K, 16K, or 24K (Galois P4).
💡 Tip: Ensure the selected resolution is supported by your target software. If your software experiences decoding lag or crashes when loading large files, we recommend selecting 8K or 16K. Higher resolution increases file size but does not alter point cloud geometric density.
💡 Software Compatibility Notice: For background details on why resolution choices matter for third-party tools like Autodesk ReCap Pro, please refer to our E57 Point Cloud Export Feature Update Notice.
  2. Confirm credit consumption details and click Submit to generate the export.
