How to Connect & Use RTK Rover with Galois P4

The Realsee Galois P4 now supports external RTK positioning, bringing survey-grade absolute accuracy to your 3D spatial capture workflows. Designed for outdoor surveying, AEC construction tracking, civil engineering, infrastructure inspection, and large-scale digital twins, this feature seamlessly connects Galois P4 with high-precision GNSS receivers.
Connect an external RTK receiver to the Realsee VR app to assign real-world geographic coordinates to every scan station with centimeter-level precision. Output georeferenced point clouds and digital twins ready for GIS mapping, survey control alignment, and BIM integration without manual georeferencing.

Prerequisites & Compatibility

Item Requirement
3D Scanner
Galois P4 (running firmware v1.1.8 or later)

(Note: Galois M2 is not supported)

Mobile App Realsee VR App v3.66.0 or later (iOS / Android)
Control Device Smartphone or iPad / Tablet with Bluetooth and Personal Hotspot capability
Correction Service Active NTRIP / CORS account credentials (host, port, mountpoint/source node, username, password)
Verified RTK Rovers
• SparkPNT TX2

• Emlid Reach RX2

Note on Other Rovers: If you use a different RTK rover outputting standard NMEA over Bluetooth, contact our Product Operations Manager, Lutina, to verify compatibility and setup support.

Setup & Workflow

1. Mount & Power On Hardware

  • Secure the RTK receiver to the top of the Galois P4 using the dedicated mounting plate.

  • Power on both the Galois P4 scanner and the RTK rover.

  • Enable Bluetooth and turn on Personal Hotspot on your phone/tablet.

2. Connect Scanner to Realsee VR

  • Connect your phone to the Galois P4 Wi-Fi network.

  • Open the Realsee VR App and enter the scan view.

3. Open RTK Configuration

  • In the scan capture screen, tap the Settings icon (gear/nut icon in the bottom-left corner).

  • Scroll to the bottom to find the RTK section.

  • Tap RTK Configuration (if configuring for the first time) or toggle the switch On if already configured.
4. Pair the RTK Rover

  • On the RTK Configuration screen, tap Add Device under RTK Bluetooth.

  • Select your device (e.g., SparkPNT RX2-XXXX).

  • If your rover does not appear automatically, tap Find other RTK and select it from the accessory list (e.g., RX2).
5. Enter Network & CORS Credentials

  • Network Configuration: Enter your mobile device's Hotspot Name and Hotspot Password.

  • RTK Account Configuration: Input your CORS/NTRIP service details:

    • Server Address / IP

    • Port

    • Source Node (Mountpoint)

    • Account (Username)

    • Password

    • Coordinate Frame (Optional)

6. Save and Achieve RTK Fix

  • Tap Save in the top-right corner. The app will display "Enabling RTK...".

  • Return to the scan view and monitor the status pill at the top center:

    • No Fix / Single: The receiver is acquiring satellite lock and streaming corrections (typically takes 1–3 minutes in open sky). Do not begin scanning yet.

    • RTK Fixed: Centimeter precision is acquired. You are ready to start capturing.

Best Practices

  • Maintain Sky Visibility: RTK positioning relies heavily on open sky environments. For mixed indoor/outdoor projects, outdoor stations with an RTK Fix serve as geographic coordinate anchors. Indoor areas without RTK reception will continue to register normally via LiDAR and visual features, and the system automatically aligns the entire model to the real-world geographic coordinate system.

  • Keep Hotspot Active: Ensure your mobile hotspot remains active so the NTRIP correction data stream is uninterrupted throughout capture.

  • Avoid Dual Connections: Close third-party receiver companion apps (such as Emlid Flow) during capture to prevent Bluetooth channel conflicts with Realsee VR.
