Galois P4 App-Free Capture Mode

To accommodate environments without network access (such as underground garages, remote construction sites, or high-security projects) or situations where operating a smartphone/App is inconvenient during high-intensity tasks, Realsee has introduced the Galois P4 App-Free (Standalone) Capture Mode.

This feature allows users to completely bypass the smartphone and App, performing high-precision spatial captures directly via the Galois P4's built-in small screen. This significantly enhances operational flexibility and efficiency in extreme environments.

Key Benefits:

  • Seamless Offline Workflow: Eliminates the pain points of weak network signals or Wi-Fi disconnection interrupting your capture workflow.
  • Lightweight Operation: No need to constantly pull out and click your phone. Operate directly via the hardware for more focused on-site scanning.

Crucial Notes:

While the App-Free mode offers great flexibility, it functions as a "blind scan" due to technical limitations, which brings the following constraints:

  • No Real-Time Preview: You cannot check the captured imagery on-site, making it impossible to instantly detect issues like camera-person exposure, obstructions, or blurry frames.
  • No Real-Time Alignment: Since the App’s stitching algorithm is not active during scanning, you cannot verify whether the scans have successfully matched on-site.
  • Potential Risks: Blind scanning may result in poor alignment quality. If misalignments or data gaps are discovered after importing the data into the App, significant manual intervention (Manual Alignment) will be required, heavily increasing post-processing time and labor costs.

Official Best Practices:

  • Positioning: The App-Free "blind scan" is strictly intended as a backup/emergency solution for non-standard capture scenarios (e.g., a broken smartphone, temporary device connection issues).
  • Recommendation: Unless under exceptional circumstances, we strongly recommend that clients use the standard "App-Connected" capture method. Real-time previews and instant alignment ensure maximum data quality and prevent the need for re-scanning.

Step-by-Step Guide:

Before using the standalone capture feature, please ensure you have:

  • Hardware: Galois P4 Device
  • Software: Realsee App (Version 3.62 or higher)
  • Power On: Follow standard procedures to power on the Galois P4.
  • Trigger Capture: Position the tripod at your desired scan point, then long-press the device’s built-in screen to trigger a 5-second countdown.
  • Scanning: The device will automatically rotate and capture the spatial data after the countdown ends.
  • Local Storage: Once the scan is complete, the high-precision point data is securely stored directly on the device's internal storage.

Data Transfer (Importing Offline Data)

Once you have finished scanning all points on-site, move to a comfortable environment or a zone with network access to batch-import your data:

  • Connect: Turn on your phone's Wi-Fi, connect to the Galois P4, and open the capture page in the Realsee App (the canvas will initially appear empty).
  • Access Tools: Tap the Toolbox button in the bottom-right corner.
  • Import Device Data: Select Import Device Data from the tool list.
  • Selection & Confirmation: Check the specific data points you captured offline, tap "Import," and confirm by tapping Import Now in the pop-up.

Canvas Processing: Upon confirmation, the offline data points will be imported sequentially into the current floor's capture canvas. You can then proceed with manual alignment, previewing, or uploading the project.
